Ceremony

RCL Branch #285 is pleased to be involved in different aspects of Military Tradition

Honour Guard - Colour Party

The Honour Guard serves as the ceremonial component of the Legion.

The Honour Guard participates in civic ceremonies to greet dignitaries such as the Governor General, members of the Royal Family, Heads of State and Government and other officials. They participate in parades, services and competitions across Canada.

They show respect and honour their fallen comrade at Funeral or Memorial Services.

The Colour Party is part of the Honour Guard, but they are responsible for marching in and out with the flags (which are colourful - hence - Colour Party!)

Remembrance Day

On the 11th day, on the 11th month, at the 11th hour we are to pause from whatever we are doing and remember those who have fought for our freedom.

Remember the living and the dead - 'Lest We Forget - We will remember them'.

The Legion hosts a Remembrance Day Service and everyone is invited to attend.

Poppy Campaign

The official start of the Poppy Campaign is around October 26th, when the Governor General is given a poppy to pin above their heart.

Although that is the official start the Committee has been planning since Spring.

Poppies are given out and a donation is appreciated.
