Congratulations to Don Hamilton, winner of the 2025 coveted black Hoods on Horton hat. He showed his 1963 Mercury Meteor Custom. We had 153 entrants: 48 first-timers, 24 second-timers, 35 three-timers, 30 four-timers and 16 entrants who have been to ALL FIVE CAR SHOWS! We appreciate your continued support.
All 50 shades of blue cars were parked out front to honour our Canadian Peacekeepers, flanked by the red cars to the north to Remember Everyone Deployed. And many spectators, volunteers and car owners wore red, too.
Thanks to all our 33 sponsors headed by our Title Sponsor AutoValue AutoParts and 53 volunteers who helped make this car show even possible.
FORD won the Hampers on Horton Food Challenge in support of the Veterans Association Food Bank. Thank you to all those who brought food for the tables or gave cash. ALL the food was given to the VAFB. Thank you to Cory for giving a very emotional speech to tell just how much the VAFB helps our veterans including make a major impact on his life.
Congratulations to Jack Innis, winner of the 50/50 draw of $649.
We were pleased to receive many, many flats of FAHR Iron Lung Ale from The Rotary 2025 International Convention (hosted by District 5360). They were made especially for the 2025 Rotarian Convention by Fahr Brewery (an award-winning brewery from Diamond Valley). All can enjoy a can at the Branch, ($4.75 while supplies last.)
We are hoping a Calgary Car Club will take on the organization of the next car show. If you are interested, please contact our Branch Manager, Maureen Vink. manager@rcl285.ca

AutoValue Hoods on Horton 2024
Another banner event! We were blessed by the weather gods, once again. We hosted 168+ vehicles that began arriving early Sunday, August 11. The vehicles were photographed by Bill Fenton and then escorted to their parking spot. Oh, the smell of car polish and gasoline! All those 47 red cars sure looked sharp out front. The day progressed with breakfast sandwiches, Bono coffee, A&W Hamburgers, hotdogs from AutoValue, a Vendor/Sponsor mini trade show, raffles, 50/50, a silent auction, Flames Alumni Brent Krahn, Brendan Mikkelson and Doug Barkley, music by Al Barrett, balloon creations by Twistin’ Tex, wobbly pops served by our lovely Legion gals and 71 volunteers making it all happen with the support from 70 sponsors. The Veterans Association Food Bank happily received many cash donations and four tables FULL of food. Congratulations to GM for winning the “Pride in Your Ride” Food Challenge. Ken Taylor won the Vehicle of the Year Draw (1951 Chev BS-businessman’s coupe) and the coveted black Hood's Hat. Thank you, everyone!
Here is a RECAP of the event. Here is a SLIDESHOW. Slides advance every two seconds or click mouse to advance.
